1. About this policy
This policy explains what information the Dohans Qatar Android application collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can have it deleted. It applies specifically to the mobile application listed above. Our separate website privacy policy covers browsing at www.dohansqatar.com outside the app.
The Dohans Qatar app is a secure wrapper around our online store at www.dohansqatar.com. Everything you see inside the app is our own website, loaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The app itself has no separate database, no separate account system, and no separate login.
2. Personal information we collect
Information you give us when you place an order. If you decide to buy something, our checkout asks for your name, delivery address, email address and phone number. We use this only to confirm the order, deliver it to you, and contact you if something about the order needs sorting out.
Payment information. Payments are handled directly by our payment providers and by Shopify, the platform our store runs on. Card numbers and payment credentials are entered into their secure systems. We do not receive, see, or store your full card details at any point.
Information you give us when you contact support. If you message us about an order, a return or a question, we keep that correspondence and the contact details you used, so we can follow up properly.
Technical information collected automatically. Like any website, our store records basic technical data when the app loads a page: IP address, browser and device type, time zone, the pages and products you view, and search terms you enter. This is used to load the store correctly on your device and to understand which parts of the store people actually use.
What we do not collect. The app does not ask for or access your contacts, camera, microphone, calendar, SMS, call logs, or precise device location. It does not collect an Advertising ID. It does not track you across other apps or websites.
Saving product images. The app has a "Download image" option that saves a product photo to your device's gallery when you choose to use it. This happens only when you tap it, the image goes to your own device, and nothing is sent to us. We do not read, browse or upload any other photos or files on your device.
3. Push notifications
If you allow notifications when the app asks, we can send you occasional messages about your order status, new arrivals and offers. To make this work, the app registers a notification token with Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service. That token identifies your installation of the app so a message can reach the right device. It is not linked to your name, and it is not used for advertising or profiling.
You can turn notifications off at any time from your device settings, under Apps → Dohans Qatar → Notifications. Turning them off does not affect anything else in the app.
4. Accounts and sign-in
The app does not require you to create an account or sign in. You can browse the entire store and complete a purchase as a guest. If you choose to sign in to a customer account on our website through the app, that account is managed by Shopify and is subject to their handling of your data as described below.

- To answer questions and provide customer support
- To send you notifications and offers, where you have allowed them
- To load the store correctly on your device and improve how it works
- To detect and prevent fraudulent orders
- To meet our obligations under Qatari law and to respond to lawful requests from authorities
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it. We share it only with the service providers we need in order to run the store:
- Shopify Inc. — the e-commerce platform hosting our store, including order records and checkout. Their privacy policy: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy
- Payment providers — to process card payments securely.
- Delivery partners — your name, address and phone number, so your order can reach you.
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — the notification token described in section 3, used only to deliver notifications. Their privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Legal authorities — where we are required to disclose information by law, or to protect our rights.
7. Security
All data moving between the app, our store and our service providers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Order and customer records are held on Shopify's infrastructure, which maintains PCI DSS compliance for payment handling. Access to customer records inside our business is limited to staff who need it to fulfil orders and provide support.
8. Cookies and stored data
The store inside the app uses cookies and local browser storage to keep your cart, remember your preferences and keep you signed in if you choose to sign in. These stay on your device until you clear them. You can remove all of it at once by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, under Apps → Dohans Qatar → Storage, or by uninstalling the app.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep order records for as long as we need them to service the order and to meet accounting and tax record-keeping requirements under Qatari law. Support correspondence is kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Notification tokens are discarded once they become invalid, which happens automatically when you uninstall the app or disable notifications.
10. How to delete your account and your data
You can ask us to delete your customer account and the personal information we hold about you at any time. This applies whether or not you created an account — guest order records can be deleted the same way.
How to request deletion. Email [email protected] from the address you used when ordering or registering. Use the subject line "Delete my account and data" and include your name and phone number so we can find your records. You can also send the same request on WhatsApp to +974 71420444.
What we delete. Your customer account and login credentials, your name, email address, phone number and delivery addresses, your saved cart and preferences, your support correspondence with us, and your notification token.
What we keep, and for how long. Qatari tax and commercial law requires us to retain invoice and transaction records. We keep these for the legally required period and use them for nothing else. Where this applies to part of your request, we will tell you exactly which records are retained and why.
Timeline. We confirm your request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
To stop the app collecting anything immediately, uninstall it from your device — that removes the notification token straight away.
11. Children
The app and the store are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app, to our practices, or to legal requirements. The revision date at the top of this page always shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
